Hi!! Oh, I just gotta say something.... I really loved what anduyn, said about Punk being a state of mind, not a sytle of clothing or music. Its just been so overly marketed over the years, anyone that paints their nails black are automatically 'Punk.' I think that the true meaning of Punk has been lost over the years, its was really a rebellion against the English government during the 1970s and 80s when no one had any jobs and this entire sub culture rose from this social issue....Anyway i didnt mean to be so long winded but, or give you a history lesson, but I loved what she said!!

Is this "How Punks Should Be" thing serious? Or is it a bad attempt at satire? I'm not trying to be rude, I'm just asking, because it doesn't seem to be serious. You can't write a guideline on how to be punk.
Punk (to me, anyway) is a state of mind, not a clothing style or kind of music. Punks are usually categorized by their black nails and studded wristbands, because that's how those people choose to convey their originality. If people are "being themselves," but they paint their nails pink, they're not going to be looked at as a punk.
And people who ARE (or even claim to be) truly punk will most likely severely dispute this:
"Don't wear those gay Independent t-shirts, if everyone has the same shirt, you ain't independent. Wear Role Model clothing!!!"
Role Model is the clothing line of Simple Plan, a band that most punks hate with a passion. For one, I would MUCH rather wear an Independent or Element shirt than a Role Model one.
